Seneca Gaming Corporation Holds 2nd Annual Every Child Matters Walk – WGRZ.com

The Every Child Matters walk allowed people of the Indigenous community come together for remembrance and to help heal one another.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Seneca Gaming Corporation and executives gathered Friday in Niagara Falls for their second annual Every Child Matters walk, bringing awareness of the tragedies that took place.

The event, which began at 5:30 p.m., featured special guest speakers with motivational speeches. After that, the walk took place.

People dressed in orange, making a visible and powerful statement to bring brightness.

The remains of roughly more than 1,000 children have been discovered on the grounds of three former residential schools in two Canadian provinces since May. Unmarked graves have even been discovered inside of the residential boarding schools.

The Every Child Matters walk allowed people of the Indigenous community come together for remembrance and to help heal one another.

“Beginning in the 1800s and lasting well into the 1990s, tens of thousands of Native American children were forced to attend residential schools across the United States and Canada, where they were forced to unlearn their names, unlearn traditional language and unlearn their culture. They were often the victims of physical abuse and sexual abuse,” a statement for the event said.

Joni Ernst: The Ultimate Beneficiary Of … | U.S – Senator Joni Ernst

joni-ernst:-the-ultimate-beneficiary-of-…-|-u.s-–-senator-joni-ernst

Washington is spending billions of your tax dollars every year to hypothetically achieve technological dominance over Communist China, but the ultimate beneficiary of that effort may just be the CCP.

That is the shocking conclusion of a Department of Defense (DoD) review that found China was stealing technology developed in the U.S. by exploiting the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The report explicitly states, “China, not the U.S., is the ultimate beneficiary of DoD and other [U. S. Government] research investments.”

This is how it works: American companies receiving taxpayer assistance for technology development from DoD and other agencies are recruited by China to continue their work at institutions associated with China’s military, the People’s Liberation Army. The U.S. company is then dissolved and the research and intellectual property paid for with U.S. tax dollars is transferred to a subsidiary in China.

Just like that, American-made ingenuity is shipped overseas to our leading adversary, and we, the American taxpayers, are funding it!

This isn’t just another case of intellectual property theft. This ongoing scheme has national and economic security implications according to the Pentagon.

A researcher and the co-founders of a now-dissolved company that received four grants to develop technology for spacecraft and drones, for example, were allegedly recruited by the Chinese government and now work for institutions affiliated with the communist regime’s defense agency.

Tens of millions of your tax dollars were spent on the development of other technologies, including broadband, biohazard detectors, solar energy, designs for military devices, and pharmaceuticals, that were all transferred to China.

In an effort to end this insanity, I gave my September 2022 Squeal Award to all of the government agencies that have allowed these double-crossing companies to take your money and run off to China with the breakthroughs that rightfully belong to the U.S.

I also introduced bipartisan legislation, that swiftly passed the Senate unanimously last week and the House just yesterday, that will require government agencies to do background checks on businesses seeking federal support while having ties to foreign countries of concern like China. The bill allows the agencies to take back taxpayer dollars from any business found to be a risk to U.S. national security. And I’m thrilled to report, this bill was signed into law by the president today.

No matter how much of your money Washington spends to “win” the global tech race, we will never win by surrendering American-made innovation and subsidizing our adversaries. This cycle will continue until these grant programs are both required and empowered to hold unscrupulous recipients of taxpayer funds accountable for selling out to China. Thankfully, the new law I helped make will put an end to this cycle!

Intel’s Self-Driving Technology Mobileye Unit Files For IPO – Yahoo Finance

intel’s-self-driving-technology-mobileye-unit-files-for-ipo-–-yahoo-finance

(Bloomberg) — Intel Corp. has filed for an initial public offering of its self-driving technology business, Mobileye Global Inc., braving the worst market for new US listings since the financial crisis more than a decade ago.

Most Read from Bloomberg

The company didn’t disclose terms of the planned share sale in its filing Friday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Mobileye will continue to be controlled by Intel after the IPO, according to the filing.

Intel expects the IPO to value Mobileye at as much as $30 billion, less than originally hoped, Bloomberg News reported this month.

If the listing goes ahead this year, it would be one of the biggest US offerings of 2022. Currently, only two companies have raised $1 billion or more on New York exchanges since Jan. 1, compared with 45 in 2021. This year, the US share of IPOs has shrunk to less then a seventh of the global total from half in 2021.

Mobileye would also be following in the tracks of Porsche AG’s market-defying IPO in Frankfurt this week. That €9.4 billion ($9.2 billion) listing is the world’s second biggest this year and the largest since stock markets began their volatility- and inflation-driven downward spiral in January.

Intel Chief Executive Officer Pat Gelsinger is trying to capitalize on Jerusalem-based Mobileye, acquired in 2017 for $15 billion, with a partial spinoff of its shares. Mobileye makes chips for cameras and drive-assistance features, and is seen as a prized asset as the car industry races toward fully automated vehicles.

EyeQ Shipments

Now with about 3,100 employees, Mobileye has collected data from 8.6 billion miles on the road from eight testing sites globally, according to its filing. the company says its technology leads in the race to shift the automotive industry away from human drivers. It’s shipped 117 million units of its EyeQ product.

Mobileye has been a particularly bright spot for Intel and has consistently grown faster than its parent. As of July, it had $774 million of cash and cash equivalents. In the 12 months ended Dec. 25, it had a net loss of $75 million on revenue of $1.39 billion.

The company said it plans to use proceeds from the IPO to pay down debt and for working capital and general corporate purposes.

McCaskill, Huntsman

Mobileye said in its filing that its board will include Gelsinger as chairman, and also former US Senator Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat, and Jon Huntsman, the former Republican governor of Utah as well as ambassador to China who is now on Ford Motor Co.’s board.

In its filing, Mobileye noted that it acquired mobility and transportation business Moovit from Intel this year. Moovit, another Israeli-based business, had been acquired by Intel for $900 million in 2020.

A successful Mobileye listing could break the ice for an array of startups that have been waiting for the year’s market tumult to ease before moving ahead with IPOs.

More specifically, it could clear a growing logjam of chip-related assets waiting to come to market. SoftBank Group Corp. also is trying to sell shares of semiconductor designer Arm Ltd. by early next year. Ampere Computing LLC, a startup making processors for data centers, is planning an IPO as well.

The Mobileye offering is being led by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley. Mobileye plans for its shares to trade on Nasdaq under the symbol MBLY.

U.S. Department Of Education’s Office For Civil Rights Announces Resolution Of Racial Harassment Investigation Of Peoria Unified School District In Arizona | U.S – US Department Of Education

us-department-of-education’s-office-for-civil-rights-announces-resolution-of-racial-harassment-investigation-of-peoria-unified-school-district-in-arizona-|-u.s-–-us-department-of-education

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) today announced the resolution of a complaint of racial harassment filed against Peoria Unified School District in Arizona.

OCR determined that the district failed to address harassment of students on the basis of race, color, and national origin, in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its implementing regulations.

Peer harassment included race-based slurs, such as targeting the n-word and “ching chong” at students, mocking police killings of Black people, pulling eyes back to mock Asian students, mimicking “Heil Hitler” salutes, drawing Swastikas on photographs of students’ faces on notebooks and in a bathroom, and saying Black people “do not deserve to live” and “should die,” a student’s skin looked like “burnt” food, and that a student should “go back to [their] country” and “eat dog.”

Harassment by employees involved repeated touching of and comments exclusively about a Black student’s hair. The persistent, pervasive, and severe harassment and the district’s ineffective response caused significant and enduring academic, social, and emotional harm to the student who was the subject of the OCR complaint. Moreover, OCR found that a schoolwide hostile environment existed because at least a dozen other students of color at the school were likewise harassed based on race, color, or national origin by numerous peers.

Although administrators and teachers at the school were aware of widespread harassment, the district repeatedly responded ineffectively, or not at all, to reported harassment, allowing the harassment to continue on a consistent basis and to create a school-level hostile environment. The district also did not offer any supports or remedies to students who were harassed. As a result of these failures,

OCR determined that the district permitted students of color to be subjected to a hostile environment based on their race, color, or national origin that was sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it interfered with – or could have reasonably interfered with – their ability to participate in or benefit from the school’s program.

The resolution agreement commits the district to take steps to ensure nondiscrimination based on race, color, and national origin in its education programs and activities.

“Every student in every school deserves to learn free from discriminatory harassment,” said Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Catherine E. Lhamon. “Peoria Unified School District today commits to come into compliance with longstanding federal civil rights requirements, ensuring that district students learn without discrimination based on race or national origin.”

The district’s commitments in the voluntary resolution agreement include:

  • Providing supports and remedies, where appropriate, to students who were subjected to peer harassment based on race, color, or national origin at the school.
  • Conducting a climate assessment that examines the prevalence of harassment at the school, the hostile environment created by the widespread harassment, the school’s and district’s handling of reports of harassment, and measures for reducing harassment at the school and for improving the district’s response to reports of harassment.
  • Issuing an anti-harassment statement and issuing a notice to parents about identifying and reporting harassment and about how the district is expected to respond.
  • Reviewing, revising, and disseminating policies, forms, and record-keeping procedures related to harassment based on race, color, and national origin.
  • Training staff about legal requirements under Title VI, reporting and responding to harassment, prohibited retaliation, cultural competency, and implicit bias. And,
  • Providing developmentally appropriate educational programs about how to recognize and report racial harassment for school students.

The letter to Peoria Unified School District is available here and the resolution agreement is available here.

Kids these days are still obsessed with YouTube, even if they aren’t exclusively using it to binge 10 hours of Smosh videos. The video platform is Gen Z’s No. 1 brand, according to a new report from Morning Consult.

Back in our day, we had to Ask Jeeves uphill both ways. After YouTube, Gen Z favored tech behemoths Google, Netflix, and Amazon. And growing young adults need snacks for all that google searching: Half of the top 40 most popular Gen Z brands were food and beverage companies, more specifically junk food. M&Ms ranked the highest at No. 5, followed by Doritos (8), KitKat (9), Oreo (10), and the only appropriate drink to wash it all down at No. 11: Gatorade.

Some other highlights that might help you connect with your coworker who keeps calling you “mid”:

  • A brand’s favorability score was determined by asking participants if they had either a “somewhat” or “very” favorable opinion on each brand. No shock here, but Gen Z’s average favorability rating over all brands was 27%, lower than 33% of all participants and 36% of millennials.
  • And more Gen Zers saw fast fashion giant Shein favorably (44%) compared to all adults in the survey (22%).—MM

Citadel’s Ken Griffin Says The Exodus Away From Crypto And NFTs Is Good For The Economy – Kitco NEWS

citadel’s-ken-griffin-says-the-exodus-away-from-crypto-and-nfts-is-good-for-the-economy-–-kitco-news

Citadel(Kitco News) – Ken Griffin, the founder of Miami-based trading firm Citadel Securities, pulled no punches in a recent conversion with CNBC when he suggested that people moving away from the “speculative bubble” that is crypto, nonfungible tokens (NFTs), and meme stocks is a positive sign for the U.S. economy.

The response emerged from a discussion surrounding the government handouts in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 lockdown, which resulted in investors pumping their newly found cash into these “speculative assets.”

All three of the aforementioned asset classes experienced blow-out performances at some point in 2021 as traders frantically attempted to acquire them amid rapidly appreciating prices, only to see their values plummet in 2022 amid a wider economic downturn.

Now that the bubbles have burst, Griffin sees it as a “healthy” sign for the U.S. economy, which can now start to regain some semblance of order.

“Now that we’re past that moment in time and people are starting to spend those savings down to travel, go out to eat, enjoy other items in life that they want to have, we’re seeing that speculative bubble really recede,” the billionaire said at CNBC’s Delivering Alpha Conference Wednesday.

“And this is healthy for the economy. Money misallocated in speculative assets doesn’t create jobs in the long run, doesn’t help to create the long-term prosperity that makes America the country that it is,” Griffin said.

The Citadel Securities founder also noted that younger people, including the ones that work at the firm, are more interested in crypto because they value privacy and have a more “libertarian view of the world.”

Griffin also alluded to platforms like Celsius and Terra/Luna by saying that “billions of dollars going into companies that are effectively going to go broke, tens of billions” is not good for markets.

Negative comments about the cryptocurrency sector are nothing new for Griffin, who once called the space a “jihadist call” against the U.S. dollar and said he is keeping his firm out of the digital asset space because he didn’t want to “help fund the North Koreans.”

Google Is Shutting Down Its Gaming Service Stadia – ABC17News.com

google-is-shutting-down-its-gaming-service-stadia-–-abc17news.com

By Catherine Thorbecke, CNN Business

Google plans to shut down its cloud gaming service Stadia in January, a little more than three years after it launched, citing lackluster demand from customers.

Phil Harrison, the vice president and general manager of Stadia, said in a blog post Thursday that the consumer gaming service “hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected.”

Google plans to refund customers for “all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, and all game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia store,” according to Harrison.

Google launched Stadia in 2019, making it one of several tech giants to invest in the gaming market. Described by some at the time as the Netflix of video games, Stadia let users stream and play games via smartphones, web browsers and other gadgets using Google’s Chromecast streaming device. It delivered a console-quality experience without the space-consuming hardware.

But there were earlier signs that Stadia was struggling. Google said in 2021 that it would stop making video games for its Stadia platform. Some other tech companies have had to rethink their gaming strategies, too. Facebook said last month that it would shutter its standalone Gaming App this fall.

The move also comes as Google and other tech companies rethink hiring and investments amid a market downturn and fears of a looming global recession.

Despite shuttering the service, Harrison said Google remains “deeply committed to gaming.” Google expects to use some of the technology behind Stadia for other products, according to Harrison.

Players will continue to have access to their Stadia games library and be able to play through Jan. 18, 2023, “so they can complete final play sessions,” Harrison added. The majority of refunds are expected to be completed “by mid-January, 2023,” he said, and additional details for this process will be available in its Help Center.

Rather than wade through all those posts, here are some insights and valuable tips from Nutrishop, a national retail nutrition franchise specializing in dietary and nutritional supplements, vitamins and wellness.

First, it’s important to know that the bacteria in your gut play a huge role in your well-being. They are responsible for your digestive system and affect everything from metabolism and mood to brain function and the immune system. In fact, your gut is a major part of your immune system.

“Your gut helps usher all the nutrients and micronutrients in your foods to the body – and works hard to keep out pathogens, bacteria, and more,” said Brittinie Wick, a fitness and nutrition coach and Nutrishop brand ambassador who regularly contributes to Nutrishop’s Learning Center. “When gut microbes are out of balance, it can cause all sorts of problems, from digestive upset to chronic inflammation and immune system issues.”

With this in mind, we’ve gathered some tips from Wick along with Nutrishop franchisee Jay Vicino on ways to improve gut health. These suggestions are in addition to the standard healthy living tips of getting eight hours of quality sleep per night and drinking plenty of water daily to stay hydrated. Believe it or not, practicing those two tips alone will help keep your gut healthy and happy! Keep reading for additional tips.

  1. Eat a clean, healthy diet. Processed and ultra-processed foods (think chips, crackers, cookies, fries, etc.) have been shown to negatively impact the gut microbiome because they break down easily into sugar, a sworn enemy to healthy gut flora. Instead, try to get your nutrition from whole, nutritious foods like veggies, lean meats, whole grains, and low glycemic fruits. “With the tremendous amount of processing in food options across America, we’re constantly battling higher levels of acidity in our gut,” warned Vicino, who owns the successful Mt. Juliet, TN Nutrishop location and is ISSA-certified in nutrition. “We regularly recommend to our clientele to be as selective as possible in the grocery stores and to increase their daily greens intake.”
  2. Exercise regularly. The current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans state we should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week, along with two days of strength training. Even if all you do is walk briskly, it’s better than nothing when it comes to supporting the gut. “Physical exercise will stimulate your circulation and blood flow and deliver nutrients and oxygen to all body parts, including the gut,” Wick said. “Plus, exercise – yes, even walking – helps your body move food through your digestive tract.”
  3. Get 20-30 grams of fiber a day. Fiber can help balance your gut bacteria. The current recommendation for fiber intake is 25 grams per day for women and 38 grams for men. If that is more than you usually eat, try slowly increasing your fiber intake so you don’t feel bloated, uncomfortable, and gassy, said Wick. Since it’s fall, she suggested adding butternut squash to your meals. “Butternut squash is delicious, full of vitamins and minerals, and high in fiber and antioxidants!”
  4. Reduce stress. Research shows that when you’re stressed, your gut knows it, which might result in some uncomfortable gastro issues like diarrhea and gas. “Your body has a more challenging time digesting food when it’s tense and stressed out,” Wick said. “One way to reduce stress is by doing deep breathing exercises. When you do this, think about breathing down deep into your belly!” As an extra step, Nutrishop offers Restōr Stress Formula with Ashwagandha and other key ingredients to help support optimal health and well-being for your body and mind.
  5. Consider probiotics and prebiotics. Both probiotics and prebiotics support healthy bacteria in your gut. “It’s important to know the difference between PREbiotics and PRObiotics,” Wick said. “Probiotics are the ‘good’ microorganisms – such as bacteria and yeasts – that live in your intestines. Prebiotics feed the probiotics in your gut. You can get both of these by adding a variety of fibrous and fermented foods.” Some probiotic foods include kimchi, kombucha, kefir, yogurt and sauerkraut. Some prebiotic foods include red kidney beans, oats, grapefruit, bananas, asparagus, mushrooms, watermelon and chickpeas.
  6. Supplement it. Many health-conscious individuals turn to supplements to help fill in the gaps of their nutrition needs, including probiotics and digestive enzymes. One of the most popular stacks sold at Nutrishop locations nationwide during the holidays and beyond is the Jumpstart Stack (Gut Formula, 7-Day Cleanse and SuperMulti+). This stack is touted for its ability to “clean house” by getting rid of the “ick” and replacing it with vital micronutrients, all while supporting gut health for an overall feeling of optimal well-being. Another popular stack throughout the holiday season and beyond is the Complete Detox & Cleanse Stack (Gut Formula, Daily Detox and Liver Complex). “Gut Formula alone is not only loaded with good-for-your-gut ingredients like probiotics, digestive enzymes, apple cider vinegar, peppermint, caprylic acid, and more, but if you were to buy all these ingredients individually, it would cost over $200,” Vicino said. “Thankfully, Gut Formula contains everything you need in one bottle.”

Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Crypto Price Prediction October 2022 – Cryptonews

terra-luna-classic-(lunc)-crypto-price-prediction-october-2022-–-cryptonews

lunc price prediction

Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) shocks the crypto market once again as it pumps over 15% in the last 24 hours.

Shortly after pumping back up to $0.000296, LUNC retraced slightly down to $0.000279 and must now retest $0.00029.

Will Terra Luna Classic recover back to $0.00032 in October? LUNC is available on OKX.

Moments before Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) broke out today I had warned members the price was about to do something special in my official discord channel.

Terra Luna Classic had been trading within a bullish reversal pattern known as a broadening descending wedge.

This is formed when the price rallies and retraces within a descending wedge which has diverging resistance and support trendlines.

Currently, LUNC is trading at $0.000282 but is still up by 9.11% since this morning. This could potentially be a short term retracement until we see more positive price continuation.

lunc price break out
LUNC/BUSD – 4 Hour Time Frame.

As we can see LUNC comfortably found support around the $0.000257 following the recent breakout due to the bullish news around Binance who will soon be integrating the 1.2% burning and taxing mechanics.

Whilst a rapacious breakout occured, LUNC didn’t quite hit the technical price target of $0.00033.

It is now imperative that LUNC can hold the $0.00028 support level in order to prevent negative continuation to the downside and from entering the broadening wedge pattern once again.

Historically, October and November are strong months for the crypto markets, we could potentially see the entire market sentiment shift from extreme fear to neutrality or greed.

This would result in an uptrend for Bitcoin which should also drag altcoins such as Terra Luna Classic up with it.

Even though LUNC has been in the limelight once again these past 24 hours, on the macroscale LUNC has still formed a lower high which is technically bearish.

I speculate that October we may see the price of LUNC chop between $0.000329 and $0.000257

LUNC Must Burn More Supply

It is crucial that Terra Luna Classic continues to burn more of its ever so inflated supply of 6,151.07b tokens in order to see positive price action for the future.

Recently, more major centralized exchanges in the market such as Binance are onboarding the 1.2% tax burn and mechanics which is a great start.

Once we see more tier 1 and tier 2 centralized or decentralized exchanges follow in their footsteps, the supply of LUNC will come down.

As we can see the last 30 days of burning for the total LUNC supply looks fantastic and is almost completely linear.

As exchanges bring in more trade volume for LUNC and if the Terra Luna Classic community is able to thrive with morale and confidence more LUNC tokens will be burnt.

According to Terrarity, it is predicted that in 5 years 8.436% of the total LUNC supply will be burnt. This is a total of 582,197,733,676 tokens compared to the 0.062% that has been burnt today.

Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Video Analysis

The crypto markets are still shaky and we are still plunging deeper into a crypto winter which could mean lower crypto prices in the near future.

I would remain risk averse when making decisions around throwing large sums of working capital into volatile tokens such as Terra Luna Classic (LUNC), which has recently been described as a ‘community based token’

EXCLUSIVE Vietnam Preparing Rules To Limit News Posts On Social Media Accounts – Sources – Reuters

exclusive-vietnam-preparing-rules-to-limit-news-posts-on-social-media-accounts-–-sources-–-reuters

SINGAPORE/HANOI, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Vietnam is preparing new rules to limit which social media accounts can post news-related content, three people familiar with the matter said, as authorities tighten their control over news and information sources in the country.

The rules, expected to be announced by the year-end and with details yet to be hammered out, would establish a legal basis for controlling news dissemination on platforms like Facebook and YouTube while placing a significant moderation burden on platform providers, two of the sources added.

The sources asked not to be identified, as discussions about the new rules remain confidential.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications and Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“The government wants to fix what it sees as the ‘news-lisation’ of social media,” said one source familiar with the talks. “News-lisation”, or báo hoá, is a term used by the authorities to describe the misleading of users into thinking that social media accounts are authorised news outlets.

Government officials have been holding confidential meetings with popular social media and internet firms to brief them on which types of accounts will be allowed to post news content under the new rules, according to the sources.

Authorities would be able to order social media companies to ban accounts that break those rules, they said.

Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party already maintains tight media censorship and tolerates little dissent, with one of the world’s most stringent internet regimes and national guidelines on social media behaviour.

Two sources with direct knowledge told Reuters that more rules on internet and social media platforms would be introduced around the fourth quarter of 2022 to early 2023.

As tech-savvy young Vietnamese increasingly turn to social media for information, those platforms have become a target for government efforts to restrict the flow of news from unauthorised sources.

Vietnam is a top-10 market globally for Facebook with 60 million to 70 million users, according to 2021 data, and sources familiar with the matter said it generates around $1 billion in annual revenue for the company – surpassing France.

YouTube has 60 million users in Vietnam and TikTok has 20 million, according to 2021 government estimates, although Twitter remains a relatively small player.

Meta Platforms Inc (META.O), owner of Facebook, and Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) declined to comment. Alphabet Inc’s Google and YouTube did not respond to requests for comment. TikTok said in a statement that it addresses content violations based on applicable laws and with adherence to its guidelines, but did not comment on pending Vietnam regulations.

The Vietnamese government had adopted in July a set of non-binding guidelines on what qualifies as news outlets, including criteria to distinguish “real” and “fake” news outlets, warning that some social networking sites include accounts that mislead users into thinking they are newspapers.

Those guidelines are expected to be incorporated into the new rules, which will be binding.

The authorities are also expected to implement new rules that would require social media platforms to immediately take down content deemed to harm national security, and to remove illegal content within 24 hours, sources familiar with the matter said.

Sources told Reuters in April that the new rules, which were originally planned for July, reflected the government’s dissatisfaction with social media platforms’ take-down rates. read more

This will be done through amendments to the country’s main internet law.

Vietnam in August also issued a new regulation, due to come into effect from October, that will require technology firms to store users’ data locally and to set up local offices.

Stop Paying For Costly EMRs, Tech For Connecting Health Systems – Healthcare IT News

stop-paying-for-costly-emrs,-tech-for-connecting-health-systems-–-healthcare-it-news

Healthcare organisations should stop spending a pile of cash on expensive digital technologies to join up their systems.

During the keynote session “Shifting the Paradigm in Digital Health,” Frank Hester, founder and CEO of TPP UK, shared that cost is a big consideration for him in acquiring EMR and other digital health technologies.

Say the cost of joining up health systems in Indonesia is worth a billion dollars, he said. “You should be able to bang in an EMR solution right across Indonesia for but much less than a hundred million dollars.”

“I’m fine if you want to pay more… but I say it’s time to stop,” he urged the audience.

“In every other industry, technology has brought the cost of the product down. You get more value for money and you see it everywhere, apparently, miraculously, apart from healthcare technology,” he claimed, saying that it is supposed to be cheaper, faster, and better today.

Hester also advised organisations to look from suppliers data access and interoperability in their solutions. “Have we got apps and mobile solutions? Do doctors and nurses like using the system? Does it empower them? Does it make it quicker?”

He also said to consider how quick their supplier responds; are they allowed to do the installation or wait for them to do it. “It’s madness if you have to wait for your supplier to do something. It’s even more madness if they managed to charge you for it,” he stressed.

Nevertheless, Hester still thinks “it’s a wonderful time to be in healthcare technology.”

He shared that present technologies in healthcare are helping doctors save time and make fewer clinical errors.

Particularly, AI has been assisting clinicians in decision-making and diagnostics and expanding access to healthcare services, especially in areas where there is a lack of healthcare staff.

“I think the business opportunities [in healthcare technology] are fantastic, but the change that we can make to humanity, to our lives is even more fantastic,” he concluded.
